LVMPD: 81-year-old woman died a week after east Las Vegas crash

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police said an 81-year-old woman died a week after an east valley crash early December.

The crash happened Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 11:42 a.m. at Lake Mead Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street.

The 81-year-old woman was a passenger of a Chevrolet driving southbound on Mt. Hood approaching Lake Mead Boulevard. At the same moment, a Dodge Caravan with two women and juveniles drove westbound.

A crash happened when the Chevrolet disobeyed a red traffic signal and hit the Dodge.

The Chevrolet was left with major damage and the Dodge had “moderate” damage.

The passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to UMC Trauma. Other people in the crash reported injuries but rejected medical help.

Police said the extent of injuries reported at the crash did not call for LVMPD’s Fatal Detail team to respond.

On Dec. 12, the Clark County Coroner told police the 81-year-old woman died.

The passenger’s death marks the 154th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD jurisdiction for the year 2024. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
