The winter solstice occurs at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, officially ushering in the winter season. Temperatures will stay 10° above average with mid 60s Saturday and Sunday.

Some high clouds will pass through at times this weekend, but we stay dry with light wind around Southern Nevada. The forecast high both Saturday and Sunday is 66°.

Monday will stay mild with a forecast high of 68° under partly cloudy skies. Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day with the chance of showers on Christmas Eve. The best chance of rain will be during the afternoon and evening.

The rain that moves through will be light and scattered with wind gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range. Showers move east for Christmas Day on Wednesday with more sunshine in the mix. It will stay breezy at times on Christmas with a forecast high of 63°.

Another system passing through the area will bring a slight shower chance on Thursday with cooler air bringing the forecast high down to 59°.
