Forecast Outlook: Wednesday, December 18
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — Today looks beautiful around Southern Nevada thanks to an area of high pressure that will continue to build over our region for the next few days.
Temperatures are trending between 10 and 12 degrees above our seasonal average for this time of the year. Today we are looking at Sunny skies with a high temperature of 68 for Las Vegas.
Other areas around Southern Nevada will hit the low 70s including up in the Moapa Valley, Mesquite and Laughlin.
Speaking of Laughlin, a wind advisory remains in place for areas around the Colorado River Valley until 4 p.m. this afternoon. Laughlin will continue to see wind gusts up to 40 MPH through today before winds finally start to ease up.
The weather will continue to be tranquil for the rest of this week with passing clouds from time to time.
Long range weather models are showing a change in the weather pattern that could lead to a chance of rain for Southern Nevada just in time for Christmas Eve and likely a white Christmas for elevations above 6,000 feet. That includes the Spring Mountain Range and areas in Southwest Utah above 6,000 Feet.
It’s too early to tell how much precipitation we could get from the Christmas Eve system but we’ll continue to keep an eye on the aforementioned weather shift over the next few days.
