Monday’s cloudy skies will assist in keep temperatures near normal, though noticeably warmer days are ahead. As the weak disturbance responsible for Monday’s clouds exits the region, skies will clear out -- pushing temperatures up 5-10 degrees above seasonal averages.

The system moving in through the Pacific Northwest will only bring us the additional cloud coverage Monday, as rain/snow showers will remain to the north and west of our viewing area. As the low pressure system exits the region by Tuesday, breezes will pick up. The heaviest wind gusts will be east and south of Las Vegas, with peak gusts 25-35 mph expected down the Colorado River Valley into Laughlin.

A quickly building ridge of high pressure will work to clear out our skies and warm our temperatures into mid-to-upper 60s through the rest of this week. The ridge will also deflect any rain showers from dipping into Southern Nevada through this weekend.

Extended models are showing our next (slight) chance of rain showers late December 24th-December 25th, along with slightly elevated breezes both days.
