CCSD surveillance shows air conditioning thefts at John S. Park Elementary

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) -After a public records request, the Clark County School District released surveillance video from John S. Park Elementary to FOX5 on Monday.

Air conditioning thieves have hit the elementary school several times.

CCSD police reports obtained by FOX5 indicate at least six instances of damages or stolen parts of air conditioning units from the end of May until late July.

Security video from July 26 captured two people running at John S. Park Elementary School.

The video shows a time stamp of 5:31 a.m., around the same time a custodian reported hearing a loud crash.

A CCSD police report says the custodian saw some air conditioning parts on a cart had fallen over. He says a male subject was getting ready to hand or throw over another AC part.

As that custodian was calling another custodian, he says a female turned around and looked at him.

“She then climbed the gate and jumped over into the inside of the school. They both fled the area,” read the police report.

Video from six days earlier on July 20 shows a white vehicle driving by. A CCSD police report says a white vehicle drove past the school multiple times from two in the morning until just after 5 a.m.

Also that day, school officials said three people could be seen on security video walking on school property for more than two hours.

At one point items were tossed from the roof onto the playground. Subjects on camera then collected those items and wheeled them away in a shopping cart.

According to a CCSD police report, a school official said the damage from all the thefts was $120,000.

It is unclear if all the thefts are connected.

FOX5 has asked but has not heard from CCSD whether any arrests were made.
