Three injured in downtown Las Vegas apartment fire
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas Fire and Rescue are investigating the cause of a structure fire located on Tam Drive that sent three people to the hospital.
The fire created a large plume of smoke coming from the building.
Just before 1:30 p.m., firefighters got a call of a blaze at a two-story apartment complex.
Firefighters began to search and evacuate all units.
The fire was given the all-clear by 1:49 p.m.
Clark County Fire provided assistance.
Crews tell FOX5 that three people, two women and a man, were injured and taken to the hospital. Neighbors said that a cat was rescued from the complex.
The cause is unknown at this time.
Two strangers tell FOX5, they were concerned that seniors or children were trapped inside and ran inside, when firefighters hadn’t arrived, yet.
“We thought there was children in there honestly,” one man said. “We tried to be great people and just go in,” he said.
“We had 20, 30 people out here recording [on their phones]. People were standing and nobody took action,” another spectator said.
The two men decided to go in together holding fire extinguishers; they said the smoke and heat was too intense and had to leave, but did go back outside and bust windows, in case anyone was stuck inside and needed help getting out.
The Red Cross is helping those who were taken to the hospital.
