Oklahoma City Baseball Club breaks eighth-inning tie to defeat Las Vegas Aviators

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Oklahoma City Baseball Club defeated the Las Vegas Aviators, 11-6, in game two of the three-game series and game eight of the nine-game homestand before a fireworks night crowd of 6,181 at Las Vegas Ballpark.

Oklahoma City improved to 2-6 in the second half (42-41 overall). Las Vegas dropped to 4-4 (41-42).

OKC broke the 6-6 tie with three runs in the eighth inning and two runs in the ninth.

OKC designated hitter Diego Cartaya was 4-for-4, double, walk, two runs scored, solo home run eighth inning to break the 6-6 tie. Second baseman Alan Trejo was 2-for-3, two doubles, walks, RBI, run scored.

Las Vegas left-hander Kyle Muller (ML rehab) pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, walked 1 and struck out 5 on 42 pitches (32 strikes).

Aviators second baseman Nick Allen was 3-for-5, double, 2 RBI. Shortstop Jacob Wilson was 2-for-4, double, walk, two runs scored and right fielder Ryan Noda was 0-for-1, four walks, run scored.

OKC right-hander Chris Vallimont pitched 4.0 innings in the no-decision. He allowed 6 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), walked 5, and struck out 3 on 95 pitches (55 strikes).

The homestand finale is Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. The post-game Fireworks Extravaganza is scheduled.

The Aviators will then travel to Oklahoma City to continue the six-game home-and-home series against the OKC Baseball Club. The series is Thursday-Saturday, July 4-5-6.
