Las Vegas Aviators drop 2nd game against Sacramento

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Las Vegas Aviators, 14-8, in game three of the six-game series before a crowd of 5,781 at Las Vegas Ballpark.

Sacramento improved to 2-1 in the second half (46-32 overall) and Las Vegas dropped to 1-2 (38-40 overall).

River Cats right-hander Mason Black recorded the victory with 6.0 shutout innings. He allowed 2 hits, no walks and struck out 6 on 78 pitches (51 strikes).

Sacramento built an 8-0 lead after 2 ½ innings and four players recorded multiple-hit games. Center fielder Grant McCray was 4-for-5, doubles, triple, 3 RBI, run scored. Catcher Jakson Reetz was 3-for-5, two doubles, HR, 3 RBI, two runs scored and third baseman Casey Schmitt was 2-for-5, two home runs, SF, 4 RBI.

Las Vegas left-hander Brady Basso suffered the loss. He pitched 3.0 innings and allowed 8 hits, 8 runs, walked 2 and struck out 4 on 63 pitches (42 strikes).

Aviators designated hitter Jordan Diaz was 3-for-4, double, run scored. First baseman Ryan Noda was 2-for-5, double, HR, 2 RBI, two runs scored and catcher Yohel Pozo (1-for-4) hit a grand slam in Las Vegas’ seven-run seventh inning.

Game four of the nine-game homestand is Friday at 7:05 p.m. on Aviators Jersey Night, to the first 2,000 fans through the gates.

Two-Time Cy Young Award winner of the San Francisco Giants left-hander Blake Snell is scheduled to pitch in a ML rehab start for Sacramento.
