Las Vegas Aviators give up 20 runs, losing to Sugar Land Space Cowboys

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys defeated the Las Vegas Aviators, 20-7, in game two of the six-game series before a crowd of 5,147 at Las Vegas Ballpark.

The Space Cowboys, with the best record in the PCL, improved to 34-19 and Las Vegas dropped to 26-27.

Las Vegas built a 6-0 lead after three innings and with the score tied at 7-7 after four innings, Sugar Land then scored 13 unanswered runs.

Sugar Land had five players record multiple-hit games. Left fielder Trey Cabbage was 3-for-6, walk, double, two home runs (grand slam), 8 RBI. Third baseman David Hensley was 2-for-4, two doubles, walk, RBI, three runs scored and second baseman Jesus Bastidas was 2-for-4, three walks, HR, 3 RBI, two runs scored.

Las Vegas right-hander Joe Boyle pitched 2.1 scoreless innings on a ML rehab assignment. He allowed 1 hit, walked 2 and struck out 3 on 43 pitches (25 strikes).

Aviators designated hitter Quincy Nieporte was 3-for-4, two doubles, 3 RBI, run scored.  Third baseman Brett Harris was 2-for-3, double, RBI, two runs scored.

Sugar Land left-hander Colton Gordon pitched 4.0 innings in the no decision. He allowed 9 hits, 7 runs (4 earned), walked 1 and struck out 5 on 83 pitches (57 strikes).

Game three of the six-game homestand (series tied 1-1) is Thursday at 7:05 p.m. on $2.00 Beer Night.
