Las Vegas kicks off Super Bowl LVIII by gifting local with tickets
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Super Bowl 58 is kicking off a week full of festivities in the Las Vegas Valley on Monday morning.
The Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee held a press conference to mark the start of the week-long celebration leading up to the meeting of the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The conference featured speakers such as Chairwoman Deryn Pete of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe, Host Committee Co-Chairs Maury Gallagher and Sandra Douglass Morgan, and NFL Executive Vice President of Club Business and League Events Peter O’Reilly.
Clark County officials also spoke at the event, including Commissioner Jim Gibson and Governor Joe Lombardo.
Lombardo presented a proclamation extending a warm welcome to those visiting Las Vegas and thanking the NFL for the opportunity to host the Big Game.
Lombardo also recognized Miriam Gomez, a Las Vegas local who also works with the non-profit Leaders in Training, and awarded her with two Super Bowl tickets on behalf of the NFL and the Host Committee.
“I am very grateful to my community and my organization,” she said. “I’m confused and also very happy that I was chosen for this. I never thought in a million years that I’d be able to see any Super Bowl game in-person.”
