HENDERSON, Nev. (FOX5) - Henderson Silver Knights' Mason Geertsen revealed he was diagnosed with cancer.

Geertsen said he was diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma November 2023. It was found in his leg.

“I began treatment immediately, and missed a month of the season before returning to play,” he said in a statement.

He said his treatments lasted through the end of the summer, and he’s now in remission.

He said he wanted to keep his cancer diagnosis private, persevering with the support of his wife, family, teammates, doctors and the Golden Knights organization.

“Now that I’m on the other side of this journey, I feel it’s incredibly important to share my story and encourage everyone to be their own health advocate,” he said.

He encourages everyone to get their health checked ahead of the team’s annual Hockey Fights Cancer game Saturday.
